Why does my php code to display an image not work?

echo '<img src="/path/to/image.jpg" width="100%" height="auto" align="top" alt="A Photo" border="0">';

Well I cannot answer that, however I can show you what will work. Try this:-

print '<img src="/path/to/image.jpg" width="100%" height="auto" align="top" alt="A Photo" border="0">';

I found this did work, but only on the home page!!!  So I discovered this method using the theme which works all over the place...

$image_array
        = array(
          'path' => '/path/to/image.jpg',
          'alt' => 'A Photo',
          'title' => 'My Image',
          'width' => '100%',
          'height' => 'auto',
          'attributes' => array('class' => 'my-class', 'id' => 'my-img'),
        );
print theme_image($image_array);

Phew!!!!
