In June 2025 I was fortunate to attend a 1-2-1 workshop with Colin Jarvis in the Yorkshire Dales. We were very lucky with the weather too.
Colin advised me to bring crampons. What on the Yorkshire Dales in summer! Well some places were indeed challenging and believe you me, the crampons were needed!
Despite having taken Infrared for nearly 30 years, first using film then digital since 2009, I learned some very useful stuff, particularly relating to exposure. I was also grateful for the online Post Processing Tutorial which gave me some useful ideas particularly in relation to framing the images as shown below.
Here are a few of my images Post Processed purely in Darktable 5 on my fancy Gentoo Linux System.
All these images were shot using the Camera Conversion Filter of 630nm. There follows a note about each image:
- This Image at Scalebar Force (Crampons Needed!) has been converted to Monochrome and then Split Toning used to create the Selenium Effect
- This image of a small copse was converted to Monochrome, then various areas masked and adjusted as required.
- A Solitary Tree on Limestone Pavement has had the Red/Blue Channels swapped and the the Hue pushed to enhance the colour shift.
- Another Copse which has had the Red/Blue Channels swapped and the the Hue pushed to enhance the colour shift using masks as needed.
- Ribble Head Viaduct seen from above Malham Tarn which has had the Red/Blue Channels swapped, but very little done to the colours.
